It's the final of the doubles today, fourball better ball, and it's absolutely SLUICING down with rain. Yikes! This isn't going to be the most pleasant experience ever...
I saw you guys posting this earlier and it made me smile - it seems odd now, but I honestly thought I'd posted it. Obviously not...
The weather started off poor and then just deteriorated! We were late starting because one of our opponents had driven 20 miles, got to Bath and then realised he'd left his golf stuff at home. Hmm. That's the sort of thing I usually do..!
The first hole was unspectacular - all 5's, all square.
The par 3 2nd was first blood, though - a GIR for me, followed by a 2 putt, but with my received stroke, it was enough to win the hole and go one up. From then on, we played good steady golf, and ended the first 9 3 up, though my 9 on the 6th with 4 shots in the bunker was one of those golfing nightmares best forgotten!
I made a really pleasing 4 nett 3 on the 10th to go 4 up, and played a wrong ball (D'OH! When will I EVER learn??!!) to pick up on the 14th - luckily my partner halved it.
I was delighted to sink a really good 7 footer on the 15th for 5 nett 4, winning 4 & 3, so we are official club doubles champions this year.
In the end, the weather wasn't as bad as it might have been. My putting was very up and down, but given the weather, I was pretty happy. In the 18 holes, I scored 36 points, which, given the conditions, represented fairly pleasing success I guess. There remains, as ever, much work to do, and wet sand, in particular, wakes me up at night in a cold sweat!

You are going to need to take a trailer to Club's presentation dinner this year...!!!
Cheers
