Played just the 1 round weekend before last and having had a couple of (shall we say "emotional") distractions from mid week still in the forefront of my mind, it came as absolutely no surprise whatsoever to me that I duck hooked my opening tee shot from the first tee, deep left into the trees, from there it was "the mist" closing in and I made no effort whatsoever to clear it, apart from being aware that despite my mood, I should be courteous enough to my playing partners not to disrupt their rounds.
So it was what I will call "apathetic golf" for that round, where I made no effort to adhere to my pre shot routine. Didn't even look at the numbers I was writing on my card as we went round.
Focused solely on the frothies waiting at the end...!!!
It came as a complete surprise that when we did sit down and tote them up, I had managed to keep it to under the even 100..!!
98 off the stick in fact and the frothies went down a treat...
Now....
To last Weekend, where I managed to fit in 2 rounds and my mental condition was much much better...
Saturday, being the first of the new month, was Medal Day. I was looking forward to the day, being my first opportunity to rid myself of the memory of the weekend before...
What followed was something almost amounting to my best round yet.
84 off the stick. 3 over the card 39 round the front, which included a 3 putt triple bogey 7 on the first and a 2 putt double bogey 6 on the 9th...

Yup, that means I played the 7 holes in between in 2 under the card...!!! 5 pars and 2 birdies... Very Very happy...
Back 9 was not quite so impressive and I do admit to getting ahead of myself and thinking at the turn that MAYBE my first 70 something was in the offing...
45 round the back, with 7 bogey's and a par and a double meant that the net 69 I signed for would be good enough for me to win my grade and do enough to get back to a 14 handicap again

Sunday, was a social round with friends at Bacchus Marsh where I shot a seemingly impressive 81 off the bat...
I say "seemingly" because they have shortened 4 of the holes to par 3's and par for the day was only 66 and my net 67 wasn't really as good as it sounded. Apart from the fact it meant I had palyed pretty much to my handicap again.
All in all a happy weekend and am now looking forward to my next round...
As always, thanks for reading.
Cheers
