Saturday was the 1st round of the 1st of my Club's 2 Match Play tournaments for the year. I was drawn to play a fellow 12 marker who I had beaten in last years event, however, he had to give me 3 holes that time. No such advantage this year.
I started well, with birdies on 2 of the opening 3 holes and maintaining that score with pars to be still 2 under the card thru 7 holes. He was having a shocker to that point and I was 4 up with 11 to play.
It would turn out to be a match of 2 "halves" with his form completely turning on it's ear from the 8th tee box. He would play those final 11 holes only 1 over the card and I would lose the match 3 & 1.
Can't say as I am overly disappointed, shooting 82 off the stick myself. Just didn't seem to be able to hole the important putts when they presented themselves.
Sunday was a social round with friends and I would shoot 81 off the stick in a day that was all about enjoying the company of my playing partners.
My swing and short game seem to be with me at the moment and I am certainly enjoying myself on course.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers
