A holiday long weekend here last weekend and 2 rounds played that were similar, but not the same...

Managed to hurt my lower back during a game of basketball during the week and probably shouldn't have played either round, but, I did...

Saturday was Medal Day at my Club and my net 74 came as a complete surprise to me. Feeling somewhat restricted in my swing, and the occasional shooting pain in my back when I over swung or swung too fast, to post an 86 was indeed a surprise.

Guess there is a lesson there in that an 80% swing is just as effective, if not more so, than a full 100% swing.

With our pennant season starting at the end of this month, I had also arranged a short game clinic with our club's pro for the pennant players after the round. The couple of tips I picked up on will hopefully help my putting and tommorrow's round will be my chance to really put them to the test. Watch this space.

Monday was a social round with several of my Club mates at Yarra Bend public GC here in Melbourne and another net 74 was again a surprise. Hadn't played Yarra Bend for some time and half way round I realised why. They put far too many people on the course and our round was almost 5 and a half hours for a 3 ball. Not good....

Well, we had been told it would be slow, so, we can't say we hadn't been warned. We'll not be going back any time soon though...

Which is a pity, because it is a lovely course and a good test of your game.

This week, I was planning a week off, however, the final of our match play event is on and as Captain, I am required to play along side the match.

Think I'll be leaving driver at home and just swinging very easily all day.
