  • Grip size and effects of bad fitting

    Hi

I understand the basics of getting a grip fitted correctly (e.g too small your hands can be over active resulting in hooks and too big there being too little and action resulting in slices etc).

A club fitter thinks I should be playing with a ladies sized grip. I am not too proud to go this route if it fits and helps!

I have been fighting a bit of an overswing recently, developing it over the summer trying to crush the ball and ending up losing distance and killing consistency. However, whilst it is now looking alot better it is not yet as compact as I would like.

Getting to the point now, I have swung with a smaller grip and found that I can hold my left arm straighter and am not overswinging.

I want to know if this is just a concious change I have made in my swing or could be I just have more control over the club with a smaller, well fitted grip?

    Any input to discussion welcome.
