  • glued left shoulder

    hi

im a big time slider on the downswing and rarely release my hands. i have in the past also suffered from a shallow backswing. both these are obviously cured by rotating not sliding, and releasing my hands, simple! however i have one thing that i just cannot seem to get rid of.

it happens at the top of my backswing when my left arm is straight accross my body. upon the downswing i get the feeling that my left shoulder will not move away from my chin. so upon taking my swing i more often than not come right out of the shot and end up sliding through and unable to release.

i tend to suffer with a shallow backswing aswell. i have narrowed it down to wanting to keep my arms as close to my body as possible through fear of ( disconnecting, coming over top etc, and all those other things that im probably causing, by trying not to cause them).

will try get a vid posted up asap.

question: does anyone have any ideas / tips or anything that can help me get in the habit of just letting go!

is this a common problem or jsut me?

    hope this explains my issue.

    thanks in advance

    Re: glued left shoulder

You have heard this before but keep the grip and hands relaxed to allow the natural release. Also, keeping the arms and hands relaxed promotes a fuller backswing and wrist hinging.

      Re: glued left shoulder

Sounds to me like you rotate your upper left arm clockwise very early. This lifts the arm up in the shoulder socket and puts it in a position to hit the chin.

Try to keep your left bicep flat to your chest so that the inside of your left arm is against your chest and not the top of your bicep. This will also point your left elbow down. Doing this will help keep the clubface closed.

Next, be sure to "wipe the table" with your right. What I mean by that is imagine you have a wash cloth in your right hand. You want to wipe it across an imaginary table that is in front of you with your PALM DOWN.
