  • Cure for coming over the top please

I've tried swinging the club more round my body, (one plane), but I'm still managing to come over the top. Anyone know any drills to cure this problem and also, what causes it?

The Magic Move is the cure for what ills you. I'm trying to find some good sources for you. Here's a starter:

Basically what you do is, to start your downswing, simply return your right elbow to your side while simultaneously returning your left heel to the ground (if you lift it up during your backswing, of course).

This is indeed a magic move, and completely revolutionized my golf swing. The best thing about it - it's so natural and so easy.

Another drill that helped me was to imagine putting your right elbow into your right pocket on the downswing. Also remember that your downswing should be initiated from the ground up. start your downswing with a lateral movement of your hips which transfers your weight over to your front foot and also brings the hands down instead of coming across the top. Your shoulders should come through the hitting zone last.

also rickys back foot back drill is also a good one.

      hope this helps

There isn't one because what causes it may be different from person to person. Plane problems usually come from swings that are too armsy. More than likely your right arm will be straightening to early in the downswing; that will put you right out at the very start. Try and keep the right elbow bent like it is at the top of the backswing right up until impact - it will straighten of its own accord. Also, feel the body turn (I feel my stomach turn) rather than the shoulders, in fact, forget about what the arms are doing but try and keep the angle in the right arm.
