Re: bMovement from top of backswing to contact of ball

hello there, I placed the original thread.

The problems that I have is that from the top of my backswing my first move is usually a slide towards the target. Ive tried countless ways to get rid of it but i cant. This gives me the problems of having my body in front of the ball at impact and not pushing against my left side. Ive videod myself and can see this happening and to me it loks awful. Its causing me to lose power and accuracy as my hands are fliping at inpact to try and catch up.

Ive tried not to slide towards impact and to try and rotate my hips instead, this has worked to some extent but now I find that im very inconsistent with the contact ie thin/fat shots.

Should my head be ahead of the ball at impact or behind it as ive sen on tv that at setup some pros tilt their head behind the ball at address.

Can some of you explain just a few points to me thanks.

1.At address, should my arms be relaxed or should I be trying to keep tham as close together as possible to try and maintain the 'triangle'.

2.What initiates the downswing ie left leg or step to left or rotate the hips immediately.
    thanks guys.

    Lee.

      Hi Lee,

Have you tried the Step In drill I suggested? it should answer your questions on how to start the downswing and how the weight is transferred from back to front. It is just like walking, you transfer weight from one foot to the other. Please try it and let me know if it helps?

Regarding your arms at address: Keep them relaxed but turn them out slightly so the elbow joints point at the corresponding hip joints. If you do this correctly then your arms will literally hang off from the upper part of your chest and gently sandwich your golf shirt between your upper arms and your body. This serves two functions: Allows the right arm to fold properly and allows for correct left forearm rotation in the takeaway.
