  • Gettin' on the left side

After a couple of weeks of decent rounds, I had a really bad one last week. I was really frustrated because I thought I had developed a good pre shot routine with consistent thoughts about what I wanted to do. During the bad round on hole 16, I set up determined to make a good swing and lo and behold made one of the best of the day. I immediately noticed what I did differently. I made a complete follow through, fully rotating the hips, letting the arm swing continue to finish and transferring the weight to the left side. I went with this thought to finish the round and it resulted in some very good shots. In retrospect I realized that I was transferring my weight much better in the rounds previous to this one.

How do I make this automatic? It seems awkward to think about the follow through when swinging when concentrating so much on the set up and take away. I can't figure out what triggered my change. I think I just thought about it in the pre shot routine and it happened. Can you think of why the transfer may have not been taking place initially? It feels so good to turn and be fully facing the target after shot.
