  • Torrey Pines North and Chipping out of Rough!

Okay, so I wanted to be adventurous and play where the pros play. With a resident card and 29.00 bucks, what is there to lose right. My first nightmare was trying to chip out of their roughs. It was embarrassing to say the least as the ball sliced to the right as I thought I was gonna chip it. I normally use a pitching wedge to chip, but went with a 56 degree for loft out of the rough. Was this the right choice? I tried getting a little more aggressive but ending up spinning off and/or over the green. Is this just something that needs to be practiced? I even tried a semi-flop, but went right underneath the ball to further frustrate myself. I finally settled down, enjoyed the awesome view and imagined what it will be like at the 2008 U.S. Open. So, it wasn't the worse day I ever had. Let's not talk about the faster than I am used to greens. Did manage to sink a 35 footer that weaved back and forth as I held my putt (just like Dave Pelz said) and watched it changed direction a few times as it fell it the cup. By watching that putt.... it made me realize that having the right line is not always the right thing.
Working...
