  • The 'YIPS'.

Hi all, it's been a while since I've been on the site. Over the winter, i've been working hard to improve my game. I now play off 13 easily (SSS 68), and have been scoring 78 / 79 regularly, even scoring my best ever round about a month ago - 75. I was level par after 13 holes, and dropped 3 in 5 holes.
Anyway my point is the 'YIPS'. They have crept into my short game, chipping and bunker shots around the green. It's costing me dearly, and it's knocked the edge of my game. I now have little confidence in bunkers or chipping, always making the same faults. I have a tendency to thin bunker shots hitting them 30yds, and catching the ground on chip shots. If I try and correct it, I do the opposite. I've read that the 'YIPS' can be either nerves or a problem with technique that creeps into your game.

However, I have been practicing a lot recently, and feel that my form is about to return again, especially with chips. However, I'll post another thread about bunker shots. Any thoughts on the 'YIPS' and tips to avoid them?

    Thanks.

    Lee.
