I've been battling away to get my HC down recently. Whilst I've been scoring pretty well in pratice, I've been missing out on it by ones and twos in competition play.

Today in the Monthly Medal, I shot gross 80, my joint personal best, which on our par 66 course was +14 over par. Off my 22 HC, that was nett -8.

I don't yet know what CSS was - I'm guessing/hoping 63, which would mean that today I lost 2.0 strokes today, putting me on 19.8. That's just a guess though - it may be more or less.

It didn't feel that spectacular at the time - I just kept plodding round, and a lot of the hard work was on the back 9 (+9 our, +5 back)

As ever, I left a fair bit of golf out there. 2 x 3 putts, 5 x double bogeys. I never really felt comfortable with my putting, which was strange for me, though statistically, it was fine - 32 putts of 50 foot sunk, though 20 feet of that was from one huge birdie

I'm kind of impatient to know what it's come down to, but I'm really chuffed - slightly frustrated that someone else got nett -10 so I came 2nd for I think the 5th time in the last 5 comps, but even so - I'm pleased
