Very Funny!!

For me, I treat the comp as a match play round, me against the course and I am at an advantage because I know what score I need to shoot to win on each hole before I hit my tee shot...
Again this week, I left Driver, 3 Metal and 1 iron at home, as I said I would and took 3I from each tee other than the 4 par 3's.
After topping my opening tee shot on the 1st into the left hand rough only some 120m off the tee, I was left with a shot of some 180m or so to the green. With the ball lying in a spoon drain a foot below my feet and no relief options available I hit 5I well but it flew well right and into the dam behind the 10th.
Scratched that first hole because I had to hole my 5th shot from 120m away for a half. No chance I thought.
From there I played some handy golf. The highlight for me was back to back birdies on our 5th and 6th holes. Given my handicap, I now don't get either of these two holes and to birdie both for "wins" was pleasing.
My second to the 5th was a delight. After blocking my tee shot right into the trees, I got lucky, hit something solid and rebounded out onto the fairway, about 180m away. My 5I sailed beautifully on line and was seemingly close. On getting to the green, my ball had pitched about 6 feet short of the flag and checked nicely about 2 feet past. Easiest tap in birdie I've had for some time.
Following those 2 birdies (and a couple of pars as well) I stood on the 7th tee 3up through 6, after being 1 down through 1. Bogeyed 7 after a disappointing chip from just off the putting surface.
Then doubled both 8 and 9 to make the turn 1 up.
Around the back it was 7 halves and just the one win and one loss so that I finished the day one up.
Surprisingly, this was good enough for runners up in my grade and 6th in the club on the day overall.
The highlight of the day for me was my putting. On the dampish greens, I was holing them from seemingly everywhere, including two putts from the fringe grass of over 30 feet!!!

That short putt on the 5th would be the shortest putt I would hole all day...!!!
Next week is our last round before christmas and we are having a novelty 2 man ambrose day. I told there's also a BBQ and free frothies at the 19th....!!!
Bewdy!!!
