Discovered that one small intangible something that I now believe has been missing from my competitive rounds over the past month or 2...

Nerves.

Saturday was a stroke round, combined with our Club's 1st round of the pairs knock out Digit's event. Digit's is what many at my Club call the usual side game played where points are won for a clear handicap winner on any hole, together with bonus points for birdies, eagles and greens in reg on the 4 par 3's. Or something like that...

My ex trainee pro mate had asked me to play with him and I was happy to accept.

We met at the practice tee about an hour before our tee time to hit some balls and during that 45 min session a sensation something akin to "a penny dropping" hit me and I soon recognised the feeling. I was very nervous about the round. Not apprehensive, but, I had that familiar fire in the belly that I hadn't had pre round for quite some time.

It would prove to be a good thing. A very good thing.

Would sign for (40/42) 82 off the beater or a net 69, which included 2 doubles and 2 3 putts.

We also won the side game 3 up and now advance to next weeks quarter finals.

Dr Bob has again helped me to remember to "swing easy" and to "take dead aim".

Now that I know the pre match nerves are back, I am again happy in the knowledge that another low round isn't too far away...
