In what can only be described as trying conditions, I managed to improve on last week, though, not enough to play myself back into contention.
My opening 6 holes were par, triple bogey, birdie, par, par, par. So, it was 2 over the card through 6 holes and that with a triple in there.
Don't know why, have thought about little else since it's fair to say, but standing on the 7th tee, about to pull the trigger, and the triple bogey on the 2nd just popped back into my mind.
Had just played the last 4 holes 1 under the card and all I could think about that triple bogey.
Hit an amazingly bad tee shot, and failed to recover and ultimately posted my second triple bogey in 7 holes. Remember thinking as I made my way to the 8th tee box my day was done.
Would card 11 straight bogies from there to finish with a net 76 and my tilt at this years champs is officially over.
Will spend some time going through this round later in the week, I did hit some very good shots in the round, but, after the 7th hole, I just didn't capitalise on any opportunity I managed to create for myself.
Think next weeks last round will be an on course practice round without any care about the score whatsoever, we'll see what comes of that...
Thanks for reading.
Cheers
