After 5 holes, I was ready to walk off the course.....
After my first 4 shots all hit timber, I would open with a triple bogey 7 on the first. And I was trying to punch out each time...

From there it was 2 1 putt doubles, happy for the up and downs, not so happy for the doubles...
From the par 3 4th hole, my tee shot was well struck and started on line, but, the breeze got it and on bouncing, took a serious right hop towards the waiting OOB. Hitting a provisional, this was equally well struck and did exactly the same thing. At this point I decided if both balls were out, so was I.. Turned out neither was, though, the second was closer to the OOB than the first. Would chip on and 2 putt for bogey.
The 5th was another 2 putt double bogey, to see me 10 over the card through 5 holes.
At this point I remember thinking I should have stayed home in bed.
Back to back pars got me thinking otherwise and would then par the next 3 as well, to be 10 over through 10. Not real good, but good enough considering the start I'd had.
Then it was 3 2 putt bogies and after I'd blocked my tee shot from the 14th out onto the 15th fairway, I was thinking I'd bogey my way home. I'd left myself close enough that I only needed a gap wedge to get to the green and this was a good thing, given the 2 tall Gum trees between me and the green. Hit the wedge well and the shot was a beaut, pitched and stopped only some 2 feet from the pin and I would make the putt.
Cranked a beaut tee shot into the breeze on the long par 4 15th and was still a long ways out, took out my 2 hybrid and thought easy half punch type swing and hit it sweetly. pitch short of the green, bounded forward and rolled and rolled, missing the pin by seemingly inches before careering off the back of the green and into a shocking lie. From there I'd miss the green and then 2 putts for a double. Not good.
Another good tee shot on 16, though would finish with another bogey 5 after missing the green and not getting up and down from not too far away.
A 2 putt par 3 on the 17th followed and with the 18th playing down wind, I was thinking birdie after smashing my drive to the 150m pegs. 8I 2nd was well struck but left of the pin and when I failed to chip close and then 3 putted the last for a bogey 6, I was certainly happy the rollercoaster had pulled in so I could get off the ride.
Might have next week off.....
Thanks for reading.
Cheers
