Saturday's round was played in fine & warm conditions, at least the elements would not be providing the excuses for a poor round today...

Opened my round with a rifle straight tee shot that split the first fairway and my 52° wedge 2nd found the putting surface about 25feet away. 2 putts for a regulation par followed. Nice.

The second hole was a carbon copy repeat of the first. Driver finds fairway, 52° wedge finds green, 2 putts for par.

Again driver from the par 5 3rd tee, but missed the fairway left by only a few feet. 3W 2nd shot pin high left, just inches off the putting surface and 2 more putts for a birdie and my 3rd 4 on the card in a row.

Missed the par 3 4th long & left, chipped back to just miss the green again by inches, 2 more putts for a bogey 4.

Driver again from the par 4 5th misses left, punched 7I comes up a little short. Bump n run 7I looks great off the club, rolls out 6inches past the hole, tap in par.

Driver to the shart par 4 6th finds the putting surface, only 10 feet from the cup. Miss the eagle putt, but leave a tap in birdie. Back to 1 under the card thru 6.

Driver on the par 5 7th splits the fairway, 5I 2nd across the corner fades slightly on the breeze, finishes short. bump n run 7I finds the dance floor in reg again and 2 more putts for a par 5.

5I on the par 3 8th misses the green by only feet, another bump n run finds the putting surface about 2 feet away, would make that for another par. Still 1 under through 8.

Driver from the par 4 9th misses fairway left and taking my medicine, I recover to the fairway about 120m away. 9I is on line all the way and pitches and stops dead about 3 feet from the pin. Misread the break and 2 putts for a bogey 5 means a front 9 of par 36......

Very much in that front 9 for this 12 marker to be very very happy about....

Unfortunately, the back 9 wasn't quite up to the same standard and I would finish 9 over the card with a gross 81, 40 stableford points for the day.

The back 9 included 2 double bogies and 2 3 putt greens, so I clearly left a few out there and again I have seen first hand my capabilities to play to single figures.

Both doubles came after poor tee shots where I simply went too hard at the ball and the 2 3 putts were both missing putts back after charging a bit too far with my birdie attempt.

It is fair to say that I am looking forward to my next round....
