  • Frustration of Golf

    Hi All,

Well just goes to prove that golf can be cruel. Just lately I have been suffering with my 4 and 3 iron shots. So went to my pro for some advice and apart from a few little bad habbits in my back swing and my right hand becoming lazy the only thing he changed was my take away. Apparently in my take away I was treating the longer irons like my driver swings low to ground but most of all bring the club back in a sweeping motion. This was because I had become use to swinging longer clubs this way. Anyway I concentrated on fixing this and now am getting more happy with it but there is one cruel factor. My drives have started to become effected by my change. This just goes to show that golf can be so cruel

    Cheers

    Re: Frustration of Golf

I totally agree with your golf "being cruel" statement. Things can be going along just fine, when out of the blue, it seems like someone else, with a handicap off the charts suddenly swung a club for you. Yesterday I was having a pretty good round, +4 after 12 holes. (4 bogies, and 8 pars) I get to this par 3 which I know is a 4i for me, and has always been money in the bank. No hazards to worry about, and just a straight forward par 3, with a huge green, with a centered pin. Out of the blue I hook my tee shot completely off the course into an adjacent field, some 30 yards left. I am like "where did that come from?". Son in laws are having a nice chuckle amongst them selves. Long story short I play that stretch of 3 holes at +6, while luckly limping home with 3 one putt pars due to few more errant shots, and an 82. To add insult to injury, I had to buy at the 19th hole, which my daughters' poorer halfs won't soon let me forget. GJS

As soon as you ever make the mistake of thinking you've got anything nailed down, it'll jump up and bite you
