    Re: bunker shot

Well the first thing you need is a good SW with at least 10 degrees of bounce unless you are playing hard compacted sand. General rule, the fluffier the sand the more bounce you need. Second, you have probably heard the standard setup, open stance, open clubface, ball forward, which is correct, but most overdue this advise, don't go overboard here, just a little open in stance and face, play the ball about where you would a long iron, make a moderate swing, swinging hard will negate the bounce and make you dig into the sand, you don't want to dig, think more slide the club under the ball, let the sand throw the ball out. Give that a try see if it helps. Good luck

            Re: bunker shot

It's kind of easy to over-complicate bunker shots. My bro threw me for months by telling me he hits his sand shots harder than he hits his driver. I now think this is absolute nonsense. Brothers, eh..?

Swing really easy. I like to think about a nice little stop at the end of the back swing that doesn't need to be thta far back - waist high? Whatever...

The most important thing is GET THE CLUB THROUGH THE SAND. Really concentrate on the follow-through, and the further you want the ball to go, the more follow-through you want. Visualise it as trying to throw the 2 inches of sand all round the ball on to the green.
