  • good set of mid-grade clubs?

    Anybody,
I'm looking for a good mid-range set of clubs to buy. I don't need top of the line, nor do I want to pay that type of scratch. My budget is in the $400-$500 range for a good set of irons. I'm thinking the Callaway x-20 irons from Callaway Preowned.

Id like to know other members opinions of these clubs or if you have a better suggestion.

    Thanks for your help....

Either you'll fit your swing to your clubs, or you'll fit your clubs to your swing.

Rule #1: If it's golf club shaped, you can play golf with it.

I'd find a clubfitter in your area (www.agcpgolf.com and use the locator) and work something out for your budget.

Just remember that whatever you buy still needs to be taken to a clubfitter/clubmaker for adjustment. The X20's are plenty forgiving, but if you head to twgolftech.com you may find someone nearby that can get you a set of 770CFE irons for the same money.

Get yourself fitted. Then if you live in the USA give these folks a look see.

I just bought a set of Tour Edge GeoMax 2 irons, built to my swing specs. I won't say they are better than anything other clubs available, but they certainly are just as good as any other brand out there. Their prices, and their life time warranty are first rate. GJS

I have been doing alot of research in this area just lately and if you can still find wilson ci7 they would be worth a go. They have won a #$% load of awards and are selling cheap at Rock Bottom Golf at the moment. $299 for a set of irons you could do alot worse. Not sure what a full set would be worth, but things like putters, drivers, and woods are more of an individual taste. You may not find that the same brand for all your gear suits you
