Re: Does swingweight affect ball flight?
Swingweight= (((Club Length (in)*(Head weight (g) + trimmed shaft weight (g)/2) - 14*(head weight (g) + trimmed shaft weight (g)) - 10*grip weight (g)))/50)-124
Where:
SW = Swingweight with respect to D-0. That is: if SW = 2, then swingweight is D-2. if SW = -4, then swingweight is C-6.
MOI = Club length^2*(head weight (g) + trimmed shaft weight (g)/3) + 10*grip weight (g)
MOI ignores the fulcrum, and measures from the butt end of the club. The other interesting factor is that MOI squares the club length before doing anything - recognizing that club length is a greater factor than grip weight in terms of feel. In fact, in MOI matching, changes to the grip end make virtually no difference - which is right. If I put 7g under your hands, it wouldn't change the head feel, would it? In the swingweight scale, it says it would.
