buy a new set off e-bay for £20 ish!!!!!
seriously though a dishcloth dampened with white spirit brings grips out quite nice, just be aware if they have paint in the branding lettering or the "tread" (crosslines for example) that might smear if you arent careful.
The white spirit degreases and 'puffs' up the rubber a bit,making them tackier.
