  • Quesion about tapered and parallel irons

    Hey everybody here.
Fisrt, thank you very much for a forum like this, in which it is my fisrt time writing.
I'd like to know if someone with more experience than me in clubmaking could give me some guidelines to find the following things on the web, books, or anywhere.

I'm looking for a directory in which I can see a little list from tapered ironheads, and parallel heads per branch. I'm looking everywhere, but I can not find something about.
The second thing I'm looking for it is a Shaft deflection chart to do my own shaft deflection tool like those sold by golfworks.

I hope those more experienced than me could help me with it.

Best Christmas wishes for wverybody here

I understand that there's a list on the golfworks website about shaft tips, but I've never found it. The rule of thumb is that the big brand names use .355 taper tip shafts in their irons and that everybody else is .370 parallel. Some brand name heads have been reamed out to accept .370 parallels.

    Another resource is here: http://www.golfshafts.com.au/golf_cl...l_diameter.htm

As for the deflection board, leave it. Buy a freq meter (I prefer the Club Scout sold by John Kaufman - www.csfa.com; the CS 2 is fine for beginners, when you get interested in true torque measurements upgrading to the CS 3 is good).

Those of us on the 'cutting edge' have moved past letter flexes and butt frequency measurements and now look at shaft bend profiles to see how a shaft plays. There's a website dedicated to these profiles - www.shaftprofiles.com

My one piece of 'free advice' is to learn to install grips with air. Much faster, and much cleaner than tape and solvent.

    Merry Christmas!
