  • Custom fitting...

I realise that custom fitting would be of benefit when buying clubs, but I was just thinking that unless someone has a swing which is fundamentally sound, wouldn't it be a bad idea to get a fitting. A player with a flawed swing might improve meaning his/hers fitted clubs are no longer really fitted to the new swing. A static fitting would be a better idea. It's why i've been hesitant to get myself kitted out with fitted clubs until I reach a certain level. What are peoples thoughts?

Actually this probably isn't the best section for this thread. Feel free to move this mods, if there are any about.

HHmmm...well if a baby is just starting to walk, are you going to get him some shoes that fit correctly so he will learn to walk right, or do you plan to just get any thing that is available and have his feet hurt and learn to walk funny...lol...then later when he gets older and use to walking funny, the good fitting shoes won't help.

My view, new golfers need things to be correct, goes a long way to promoting the correct fundamentals. Most people will sole the club correctly behind the ball, now if the club wasn't matched to them, they are going to adapt to it, how you going to swing correctly if your out of position. If you are too upright, probably going to swing flat and vise verse, we won't even go into what that is going to do to your balance. Then there is the shafts, too whippy for you and your duck hooking every thing, now you start to monkey with your grip...and the list goes on...

I'm with GN - the right set of clubs at the outset can go a long way to facilitating a fundamentally sound swing.
