  • Ping I15 - too stiff

Hey there, ordered up my new pings an had them add on 3/4 of an inch...due to being 6-3......ordered the stifff shafts ....and loved the look of them............however they feel like bricks in my hand.......I figure adding the extra length really stiffened up these things as I can't get through the ball as well, no distance.........should I simply re-shaft or perhaps reduce the length and try and amek them work?????

All things being equal, extra length makes the shafts softer. Now, having ordered them stiff with extra length I'll assume PING went through the trouble of accounting for that.

It may just be the shaft. These days you can get 3 different shafts marked 'S flex' and none of them will feel or launch the same.

Cutting them down may help them play better - 3/4" is enough to stand you up out of a powerful position, but if you don't like the feel I'd certainly recommend a reshaft to something that's softer in the butt. Head over to www.agcplocator.com or perhaps even www.truelengthtechnology.com to see if there's a clubfitter close to you who can make a recommendation after seeing you swing and collecting some data.

      hi
did you get fitted at Ping's with the extra length??? if so the should of let you try one club with that shaft and length first.
have a chat to your local ping pro and have them check you swing against the new clubs, like Lowpost says the should feel a little softer with 3/4" added.
i have always found Ping to be very helpful over the last 30 odd years and feel sure they will try and help as much as they can.
      cheers
      Bill
