  • True temper identity

Hi all. As part of my tinkering and search for golf knowledge, I have obtained a shaft by true temper and commissioned by Wilson for their "1200 gear effect" clubs, age unknown. The shaft weighs 135gms and is regular flex. It is also is labelled 22n.By the size of the cavity it is most probably a beginners club. I have fitted the shaft to a Powerbilt perimeter weighted"TPS ellipsoid of power" club head, weight 270 grms, of which I have a full set. The weather has been shocking so I have not been able to give it a test run and don't have access to a swing weight tester for a few days. My burning question is, if it plays well ie. better than the old powerbilt graphites , what is a 22n and what would play as well or better. I have spent ours trying to find the spec's of the 22n to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Re: True temper identity

Hi all, back again. Swing weight of the completed TPS head to the 22n shaft is d9 I know this is heavy. I have been air swinging in the back yard and it actually feels OK. Can't get on the course, it is closed due to it being to wet. Is it possible for a 5 iron to play well at that weight? I am still learning about swing weight. Another question what is the most important, swing weight or how balanced the club feels in the hand? The original UST shaft , TPS head and grip was 437gms and swing weight of approx D4. The TPS head, true temper N22 and grip top out at 485 gms and swing weight D9, plus it is 3/4" longer and still feels OK. More to add. Chopped 3/4"off butt, now D5
