  • Mystery putter

It is an old brass putter in the classic turned up toe and heel, it is sweet to play which is strange because the only putter I have used since the beginning is a highly modified off set blade. More details. I can't post a pic,so detail is the diameter of the shaft,it is really small. I wish I had measured it when i had the chance. A standard grip flopped around on it .I had to use quite a bit of tape to grip it. Measured at the bottom of the grip(10") it is .5, then at the hozel it is.350, length is 34.5" and it's tapered. The branding is BRASS 820, Any help would be appreciated, I am a very curious man as most clubmakers are

I used to play with an old Scottish guy who had a putter just like that, he was deadly accurate with it. He used to use a flicky wrist type putt that worked great. He said he had used it since 1964.

Yes, I am always being told I am using too much wrist regarding most strokes. Maybe that's
why it feels good to me. Someone on another site believes is a copy of a Acushnet I wish I could find a reference to the printing on the sole. I don't know if it's my imagination but the ball seems to spring off the face with a great feel. This means less back swing there for less chance of problems.

He said that when he started playing golf the greens were much longer than they are today and you needed a flicky type wrist action to move the ball.

As my old Granfather told me "All good things in life are to do with wrist action"

I am quite a wristy player and I am comfortable there. I believe he was right.
