  • Need a nudge in the right direction

Okay maybe a push in the right direction. I bought my components to build some new irons. There are diamond rifle shafts and turbo power r50c heads. Just got them in today, unfortunately, the fit is alottabit more snug than i was expecting, i could only put the shaft 1/4 in in the hosel tops, maybe less. What do I need to do?

    Well, first things first.

The heads and shafts have to be the same - taper tip or parallel tip.

The other thing is that sometimes heads are built tightly to spec. In other words, after prep the shafts fit just fine.

My first set of clubs (and, coincidentally, my current set) required hosel prep and tip prep before the shafts would fit.

So, bottom line, make sure that your shafts and heads are the same (parallel/taper), prep your hosel and shaft tips, and then try insertion.

You will want to sand the tip down so it fits. Also, ensure you create a few dimples on the shaft where it will be inside the hozzle so that the epoxy to get a bit better hold.
