  • Shaft trimming.

Some help required, I have purchased 12 graphite shafts. 9 iron, 3 wood, now find they have no trimming guide and are all L flex. I know I will have to build up butt to accomodate regular grips, any suggestions on trimming to convert to R flex.

    YIKES!

First of all, help us help you by giving us the make and model of your shafts. We need to know how much parallel tip section (PTS) is available for trimming - you may find that you have either a) short clubs playing to flex, b) regular length clubs playing softer than you wanted, or, by some miracle, c) a combo shaft that just needs trimming.

      Re: Shaft trimming.

I would try to return/exchange the shafts (if you have not done any cutting yet) for a 'R' flex set of shafts. There will be a significant amount of tip trimming that will need to be done, which can present a problem for your longer clubs, if your shafts will even allow for that.

If you do decide to stick with these, heed Ben's advice. Also, the butt diameter should still be .580 or .600, depending on the shafts, so building up the butt would not be required.
