  • Hey Lowpost RE: Maltby M Wedges

I noticed you said something along the lines of the Maltby being some great wedges. I let a buddy borrow my 56* cleveland and he lost and is going to buy me another one. I have a 53* i use for everything and was thinking of getting something in the 58-60 range to have a little more versatility over the 56.

I looked around the web and seen most places only sell components of these clubs, can you recommend a place to buy the full club? I love my cleveland 588 diadic 53* wedge and although I can't think of any advantages it has over any other wedge, care to elaborate a bit on why you like the Maltby M series?

    Hi Durtman,

To answer your first question (built club), chances are if they'll sell the component, they'll also probably assemble for you, as well. If you can't find anyone to build you one, let me know, and we can work something out.

What I like about the M series:

First, I got the black ion finish. I love the way it looks.

Next, these wedges have a nice compact look to them at setup. I have a buddy who has Ping G2 wedges, and they look like dinner plates. Even the SnakeEyes 600XC wedges are huge compared to these.

These wedges also put a nice amount of spin on the ball. When I strike them well, they 'one hop and stop' for me.

I'm currently waiting on some (more) SMT durometer heads, as I fear they may boot the Maltby's. Right now, my Maltby's had shared time with my SnakeEyes Forged wedges (again, the black ion finish).

Is the 650 a new SE offering?

It's been about 3 months or so now since they have released the 650s.

When I first asked you about your 600 wedges (about September??) was when I noticed the 650s on the golfsmith website.
