need to get club reshafted, where?

yeah yeah i bought a sasquatch got a reg shaft, now i realise it is way too flimsy

i have a dicks sporting good and a golfsmith near(well not near but same distance apart) do any of these places reshaft drivers? cost? which one is the best?

Take it back. Tell them you're not satisfied. I'm sure they'll exchange it -- even if it was used. They should have checked your swing before you bought it. Any decent golf salesperson will ask you how far you hit a 5 iron or whatever as a gauge of how strong a hitter you are. Maybe even put you on a launch monitir of test it out on a simulator. They should never have let you leave the store with the wrong club that's for sure. Now if you didn't tell them the truth...

my dumbass bought it from sorts authority, i knew i needed stiff shaft but they didnt have any so i rushed to get one and i did a dumbass thing...yeah



anyways now i got a reason to get launch monitored for a new shaft, i just need to know where this is done at

Just as a note, I don't think Dick's sporting goods will reshaft (at least, the ones near me won't), whereas Golfsmith should be fully set up to do whatever you need.

This won't matter, of course, if Sports Authority let's you bring it back.

i was thinking, i got a old driver with a good aldila shaft in it, how could i transfer the shafts?

i think i know how to get the shafts out but what kind of epoxy do i need, is there some i can buy from like home depot or walmart because dicks or golfsmith is a couple hours away

OK, I have been messing around with reshafting for about 2-3 months now, and as a novice I will say I wouldn't want my first attempt at reshafting to involve pulling graphite shafts (or more specifically, relatively expensive ones in that are still in good shape). Steel shafts are kind of hard to screw up, but it doesn't take much to compromise the integrity of a graphite shaft if you aren't careful (trust me ). Also, doing the repair yourself would possibly void any warranty you have on the shafts involved. Not to mention, you still would need the correct ferrules, etc., to reassemble the clubs.

However, you might want to see if you have a clubmaker in your area that could do the work for you, if that's what you decide. I think most folks recognize the Professional Clubmakers Society as very reputable for certificaton, and you can find local members here (http://www.iglou.com/proclub/index.php), or you might want to ask the golf pro at your local course if they can do the work. Since you have the shafts, it probably wouldn't be much for the labor! Also, they might be able to help you with launch monitoring, etc., although the electronic analysis can be a little harder to come by.

Mr. Miller brings up an excellent point. If you're going to invest in the necessary equipment to pull shafts, you need to decide if you want to get into club building or not.

If not, pay to get the shaft swap done.

If so, you need a shaft puller (do NOT pull graphite without one).

Then you'll need clubmakers epoxy (high shear strength, low heat breakdown), and a ferrule (collared preferred). Since you're going to do it, you might as well do it right. Now you need a reaming fixture and a drill press, not to mention a 20° carbide reamer. This is for coning the hosel so that the collared ferrule sits better. The point of the collared ferrule? It helps minimize the stress point where the hosel meets the ferrule, and drastically reduces the chance of shaft breakage.

N*k* are firmly targeting Gonzo golfers with their gear which is probably why the Regular shaft is so weak.

Doogkie, whats your swing speed/ball speed. For comparison my swing speed with a 6 iron is roughly 85mph and my ball speed with a 3 wood is about the 150mph mark and I have found the Graf Blue in a reg flex is pretty good for me. The Fujikura Tour Platform is a very nice shaft as well. I have one on my 3 wood and it gives a nice flight and is one of those shafts that puts the ball way out there if you really pound it but is still pretty powerful with a smooth swing giving you options. Failing that Harrison Stripers are really good shafts and very reasonable in price. Be careful though, the SQ is a new design and it might be tricky to change a shaft over, who knows what strange things they did to the hosel considering the state they made of the head itself. Deff get a recognised clubmaker to do it, they will probably be able to recommend a good shaft as well.

The problem these days is that there are so many different shafts out there you are spoiled for choice and to be honest, for a lot of the guys I play with, it all boils down to looks. The Fujikura Vista Pro is very popular cos of its shiny look and of course anything with a funky colour scheme sells well.

I thought I read the Diamana shafts were playing stiffer?

I've been hearing alot of good reviews on the SQ fairway woods. I probally wouldn't spend that much on one after learning and switching to components last year, but still might have to do some testing.

'Tis true! Built a 59º SMT Durometer last week... can't wait for the local supply store to get the 51º and 55º in! That milled face puts tour hooch on a 60 yard approach!
