  • Iron Off Set

    Greetings:
My question is regarding offset and the amount of it in golf irons. My handicap is 15. I'm considering the new Callaway x-18 pro irons with reduced offset than the standard X-18 model.
Another reason is the sole on the PRO version which is narrower. This feature would be better for getting the club through the rough.

I have read some information in the book "In Search of The Perfect Club" which is an outstanding book. Easy to read, easy to understand. Excellent resource book for those interested in the "technical" aspects of golf clubs.

Thanks for your opinions and thoughts.

ive been wondering if too much offset can hurt, it seems like i close the face down more than i need to

Yes, too much offset can hurt. You can close the face too much, it can make your ballflight 'too high', and it's been known to cause cancer. Ok, well, maybe not cancer, but the other two are true (depending on your mechanics).

'too high' you nailed it there too, ive lost 20 yards with my irons, ive switched back to my not so game improvement irons and im still closing the face a tad but they dont have as much offset, i might take some old old blades to the range that dont have any offset to see what i am hitting like
