Howdy all...how easily can I remove a few new grips (not more than a month old anyway) and re-install them on new shafts. Certainly it's possible.... AIN'T IT? thanks..Jim

Re: removing new grips
Jim,
Apparently, you can buy something called a GRIP BLASTER $40 For which you’ll need a compressor!
The Grip Blaster
Removing Grips with Air
Clamp the golf shaft in an appropriate vise
Puncture any grip tape covering the end of the shaft butt by sliding an awl into the grip vent hole. Remove the awl.
Slide the Safety Tube over the grip, aligning the end with the grip butt
Place The Grip Blaster into the vent hole of the grip, and apply a blast of air
The grip will expand into the Safety Tube, which helps prevent the grip from exploding - though some may still explode or split. Remove these grips with a standard hooked knife.
If the first blast of air does not free the grip, squirt a small amount of grip solvent into the vent hole and repeat
If the grip "pops" and partially releases from the shaft, you may wish to remove the Safety Tube and assist removal by twisting the grip while applying air pressure. Many grips will simply slide free in one motion without assistance.
Grips with underlistings may be removed by twisting the grip during the careful application of air. It takes some finesse, some solvent, and some luck, but even expensive, leather slip-on wraps can be safely removed and reused with The Grip Blaster.
Here’s my "let's 'ave a go at that" theory (never tried it and it’s going to be messy) …..
You could try injecting white sprit through the small hole on the top off the grip, aiming to fill the shaft with any overflow running between the shaft and the inside of the grip, which should set of the off the glue on the tape. Then simply twist of the grip…. While turning several shades of red!
Good Luck!.

Re: removing new grips
AVOID THE REGRIPPER!
If you really want one, I'll GIVE YOU mine for the cost of shipping.
I'll keep the easy system...
FWIW, I've got instructions for compressor installation/removal around here. Do a search.
Sorry - I had to edit my post. I bought a regripper gun from joegolf.ca, and it sucked. The Grip Blaster (designed by the king of air gripping - arniesclubs) may be just the ticket.Last edited by LowPost42; 03-23-2006, 06:51 PM.
