These clubs now are amazing. If I swing slow and smooth with my driver I will hit it about 280yds with a seeming 40 deg launch angle. Or I can swing my hardest and I get 280yds but with a 7 deg launch angle and a draw. I hear that I need a stiffer shaft because the shaft is to flexible and stays closed and that is why my "strong" shots go just as far. If I get a stiffer shaft I am hoping to get a higher lau angle and therefore more distance. The only problem there is then If I am having a bad day and need to "go back to basics" and swing smooth with the stiffer shaft I will be high slicing it pretty bad as too stiff drivers tend to do. I don't have a swing speed analyzer but I am just curous how fast my hard swing is and how slow my other swing is and acheive the same distance. I am no professional, but I would say some people need to trust there clubs more to hit the ball and stop swinging so hard, and I think they would be VERY surprised how far their balls go. Then after you have the added confidence and control then work up your speed.

The other thing that might be happening is that you've got a late release - and now you're playing the shaft.

As you suspect, the aggressive move keeps the shaft lagged more through impact - giving you distance based on speed, whereas your slower swing may be 'letting the club do the work' - hence the full kick, higher LA, and distance.

    Just a thought.

Yes, that I kinda of what I was trying to say.... But if I was letting the kick of the club hit it far with a flex shaft, then I figure I should get too stiff shaft and let the kick of the club hit that even further. Does that make sense? To get a low loft driver like a 6 deg (to get low backspin)and use a too stiff shaft to help get it in the air???

Actually, if the shaft is too stiff, it won't load. If it won't load, it won't kick. Your stiffer shaft would allow you to try and maximise your distance, however, if you load it with your aggressive swing, and it unloads like youre current driver.

This is what is meant by 'every golfer has their own personal distance-maximizing flex'. The caveat is that you'd have to produce that aggressive swing every time you used the club.

true, I think that is why Mickelson has 2 drivers, one to go at it and one to swing smothly. But I think he swings the same one both, I think he has one that draws naturally and goes farther (stiff shaft) and one that fades (x-stiff shaft) That's a good idea, I might do that when I get a new driver.
