Low Kick

I was wondering if low kick produces shorter shots, and if so, how much shorter. My problem lies in iron distance. I can hit it 250 off the tees with a driver but my irons are brutally short. I'm hitting a 7 iron 120-130 yards while my buddies are hitting 160-170.

Jim, I feel your pain. I don't think it has anything to do with your shafts. I, too, have this crazy discrepancy in my distances.

I carry my driver 255 yards, but pull a 6 iron from 150 yards out (I carry it about 153). I also swing extra hard with my driver - I wonder if I used the same style swing with my driver if I'd hit it shorter - or vice versa; if I used my driver swing with my irons, if I'd slice them.

I can tell you that the kickpoint isn't robbing you of yards, though.

I think the kick point can make you hit it shorter, I have a low kickpoint shaft in my driver (grafalloy prolaunch 65) and I hit it way too high, therefor losing distance in my opinion. Just my experiences.

low kick can give it higher launch and more spin and make the bal ballow up, so it can lead to loss of distance for pro speeds 115ish.

but most amatuers 85ish mph need that to get the balll up giving them moredistance

but i doubt that is the problem with your iron. i used to be the same way, but my 7 went 145ish and driver was 260ish. on thing that helped it alot was gregs RHD and impact drill http://members.cox.net/gregjwillis/LESSON1.htm

now i hit my 7 170ish and drives about 270ish

my 2 thought.... making sure i keep the right hand cupped at impact, and keeping my left wrist cock as late as possible
