Lengthening without tip trimming will soften the shaft, but 1/2" shouldn't be all that noticable.

You could always try it wthout trimming to start with and see how the irons play.

I dont' want it softening. I might give it a go. cut an inch add an inch and a half and see how i go. I'm happy with the removing the grip part and the cutting and adding the extension. Can somebody talk me through the process of re gripping please. Thanks.
