  • Shaft puller?

I am doing reshafting for the first time, I am wondering if a shaft puller is necessary, and what are the best ones for the price. Just doing a few clubs to start.

For steel, you can go ghetto, and just heat up the hosel and pull the head off with your (gloved) hands.

For graphite, if you'd like to use the shaft again, a puller is strongly recommended. For with graphite, twisting the head to help get it off drastically increases the chances of fraying fibers, rendering the frayed part useless (well, ok, it just weakens them a whole lot, and exponentially increases the likelihood of breakage).

As for pullers, I strongly endorse JB's Hydraulic puller. Better than any screw type I've used.

Thank you, I may have more questions about reshafting, but I when I get to that stage I will post.

There's a guy (not JB - JB's are very nice but more than most occasional pullers want to pay) on ebay who makes a very nice puller for about $45. It's the one I use and it is very well made.
