  • Results from my fitting

As I thought the clubs were all bent upright a half or full degree.

I stopped the guy and asked him about my driver. I have the regular reax shaft but told him while I was there I might as well look at the shaft on my driver.

I typically had a draw on my driver and my old R7 was set up neutral. This one is set up as a draw and I am still fading the ball off of the tee.

I hit seven shots 6 were on the center and 1 was toe but I still hit it straight and 245...My average carry was 250. However it was still fading. The club head was hitting square and at 8 degrees which the guy said was perfect. RPM on the range ball was 3300 or 3500 I cant remember but he said that was extremely good. However, I was swinging outside in...it was at -21 degrees and he said i should be at +3 degrees. He basically said he couldnt fix that today. THen he asked me if I had the shaft oscillated. I saod no and he said we better check that first....TO make a long story short the club head was everywhere.....he said that was part if not the problem....some of the worst he had seen. So he is going to pure the driver at $45 bucks and regrip it......sound right?

    Won't help your outside-in swingpath.

according to the guy the shaft is so unbalanced it is playing a great role in the -21 degrees

            Re: Results from my fitting

I have a Golf Achiever 2 Launch Monitor.

It measures ball speed, clubhead path, face angle at impact, and launch angle (it calculates the rest. Camera-based systems are the only ones that can measure spin).

However, clubhead path and face angle are only truly measured if you've setup square to the machine. Setup open, and you'll get a severe in/out path. Setup closed for a severe in/out.

I setup square and managed to get a 10° out-in with a face that was 3° open to target - in other words, an effective 13° open face at impact. (for the record, this makes a slice, not a fade).

As for the shaft not being FLO'ed (or PURE'd), I don't think it could add or subtract any more than 3 or 4 degrees to path through impact.

Now, the only thing I would suggest at this point from a new equipment perspective is to buy something with heel weighting and a really closed face (3° or more). Then you let it setup pointing to the hook side. This will reduce your fade, and possibly increase the number of straight pulls you hit.

thanks for your help...i have never really faded a ball before (i def. dont slice). MY oter R7's I drew the ball nicely...perhaps I need to work on the swing more than the club....the guys said the shaft was way out of whack. He showed me mine agains random ones in the shop.

conspiracy theories and such...Ely Callaway actually killed Kennedy.

                  Anyone vouch for this info?

I think, in a nutshell, G1 was saying that it's the indian, not the arrow.

And I agree that a clubfitter should be able to look at a swing and realise that fitting that swing may not be the best thing. However, sometimes you get a guy who's just had this ugly swing for 10 years, and is doing nothing to improve it. So you have to fit what you've got.

I'll also agree that if you're out of balance, you waste a ton of energy simply trying to stay balanced while you swing.

well, after fitting I shot a 81 on a 138 sloped course. Bested my average by 4 strokes on that course...my irons were crisp and I felt confident clubbing up a little and swinging easy. Ball seemed to stop and drop. Driver was still fading a little but still hit 8 fairways. I agree alot to the principal of the indian and the arrow. I wanted to get fitted and I did. Hell even Jim Furyk makes horrible swings in his short game. He gave away the US Open. i appreciate all of your help esp. you lowpost.

                          thanks
