If I take a graphite taper tip shaft, for example and 8 iron shaft and put it in a pitching wedge, since the 8 iron shaft is 1" longer than would be the pitching wedge shaft, will it play 1/2 flex softer, or a full flex softer?

    Thanks for your help!

Think about it this way - you'll end up with an 8-iron with a wedge loft. So, the flex will be a full flex (more or less) softer. BUT it'll actually be more than that because the wedge clubhead is substantially heavier than the 8-iron and that will cause more flex and torque than a normal 8-iron on the same shaft. So it may feel even softer than a full flex.
