Me neither ... It's so sad when you see all the new kit come out and all you can do is druel and froth at the mouth.

Re: New Equipment Being Released - Sept 2007 UPDATE!!

Guys, here is an update for you equipment junkies. I have just got off the 'phone with a friend of mine in America who works for a well-known tour support team:

        Callaway:
There is news I have just got from the Tour that Callaway are working with a new X-series drivers and fairway woods. It's is going to take some of the current technology in the Fusion series and bring the current X-series forward a little without all the carbon, fusion, etc.

        Mizuno:
Rather disappointingly, the new 57s are nothing new. They look very similar to the MP60s.

        Nike:
They are secretly working on a new set of blade irons. They are muscle backs with some of the weight removed from the top of the back creating a mini-cavity, kind-of like the Hogan Edge had years ago but not as pronounced. The person I spoke to thinks it's going to replace the mixed-set / pro set where the long irons have a wide and pronounced cavity and the short irons less so with the wedges having very little cavity.

Shingo Katayama and a few other Nike pro's are trialing them on Tour.

        Titleist:
Tour players are currently working on 2 new drivers. Rather dully, they're called the 907-D3 and 907-D4. There is a lot of experimentation and development going on but they are all more clasically shaped and smaller (425cc's) rather than the current D-1 and D-2 shapes.

        Cobra:
Yes, they are releasing a blade to the market shortly. It is a satin-finished blade with the back sectioned off into 3, like a spider web. The 2 sections on the toe and heel are slightly deeper than the middle one to add a little forgiveness and weight distribution.

        Taylor Made:
Are working on a driver called R7 CGB Max. It's still got the black-ish colour tone, weight ports at the back, toe and heel but is shaped somewhere in between the current R7 range and Burner range. It's 460cc's with a "pointy" triangle shape like the Titleist D1.

They're working on a new set of R7 forged irons, looking pretty much the same as the R7 TP's but forged, a slightly smaller head size, narrower sole and less offset. I kind of half-way house between the TP blades and current R7s.

        Wilson:
The new Pi7's and Ci7's are also nothing new. They are refinement to the current line.
