One question about grip, there are those clubs that have the preformed "proper grip" grips. Do those train you the correct grip or are they just a waste of time? Most trainer clubs have the option of having these on them, are they worth it?

Hi MTN I bought the David Leadbetter training grip and had it fitted to an old 7 iron and yes it does work. I had a lesson off our local golf pro and he identified the main problem I had was my grip. I had a go with a golf club fitted with a training grip and was hitting shots straight and even with a bit of draw. I bought the training grip shortly after just to re-enforce the feeling of the correct grip. I would think this is a great investment if you want to learn the proper grip although you are not allowed to use it on the golf course under the R and A rules, but it's great on the practice ground or the range. Must admit it felt really strange at first but perseverance is now paying great dividends... Tiger Beware I'm now only Forty shots behind you

i picked up one of them laser trainers of e-bay for a song and the grip does help you. it is just a grip with a laser in it, no shaft, i sit with it in my hands as i watch tv, also helps with your putting.think it cost me £3 or £4.

You can teach the basics untill your blue in the face, and they still wont listen. Till they think they workred it out themselves. As an instructor all you can do is show them the ways to improve, its up too the student to figure whats works for them.

Jeez... this is not a golf discussion thread, it an Golf Article thread, I have been looking through it, out of the 22 responses not one mind you has any thing to do with a the merit of the articles. Response range from private arguments to thier own opinions, use the pm feature for the arguments and for you people with your own opinion...why don't YOU write your own article and stay the hell of mine or stick to the subject and offer an honest critique of the article itself...and that is MY OPINION.

sorry to disagree with you but i did not know it was an article thought it was just a nornal post ans i did think its about getting as many people to voice an opinion, and most have given an opinion on the grip or on what helps to get the right girp, i think that 22 people have even taken the time to wirgh in says that they have read this and the reply's

I wasn't singling you or anyone one else out, just pointing out this particular section on the forum is FOR articles, not discussion or opinions. I more then welcome critiques of the article itself, NOT a debate on the subject matter, that can be initiated in the discussion forum titled, oddly enough discussion..lol..or maybe even the instructional section, doesn't do any good to separate the forum into different groups or subjects if we are going to do the same thing in all of them. My point being..everyone added comments on their view of my articles subject matter, why don't they just do their own article, or start a debate in the correct forum. I am not upset, just trying to bring order to the forum and maybe prompt a real critique of my article perhaps.

i read your title under the latest post and did not look it up article's so that my have happened with other too not realising it was an article and not a normal post.
you do make a good point thet the first fundamental is the grip and the need for a good grip.

I also fell into the trap of not checking the article properly and have removed my thread, I apologise for this and will be more careful in future.

Regarding your article: It makes a valid point and is well presented (And that's my opinion. LOL)

Thanks Bill and Brian, I think you solved the problem brilliantly, I never noticed the latest post deal or used it, might use it in the future, but can see right away that you can get into the answer mode, pretty quick. I still prod along from section to section, some section of the forum I never look at like the one for lefty's, since I'm not a lefty, or the ladies louge, same reasoning, not a lady, and the golf fitness/psycohogy one just scares me..lol
