  • Lost the moment

For various reasons only had time for a quick 9 hole stapleford on Sunday. Started Par (missed 3 footer for Birdie), Par, Bogey, Bogey (missed 3 footer for Par).

2 over, could have been better, good points lead given my handicap, started thinking about breaking 40 and lost it with a quadruple bogey blob.

Aaaaaaaaargh, must work on this staying in the moment business

    Re: Lost the moment

Welcome to my club championship round.

I finished the front 9 knowing I was playing well. I didn't know what my score was and didn't want to know. However, there's always somebody who's excited to tell you your score, and one of them found me and made some crack about the score I shot and how it was over my head and how I must feel great to know I was shooting this well.

    Gee. Thanks.

Needless to say, the wheels came off (comparative to how I was playing) and it took me 6 holes to put them back on. Standing on the 17th with 41 strokes for the back 9, I decided that shooting 40/50 was simply unacceptable, and that I was going to par my way in (7 strokes, a par 4 and par 3). For some reason I was able to stay in the moment for the next 7 strokes and go par-par to shoot 88.

But you're right - being able to keep your focus is paramount!

Or at least, like you regaining it.

I got to the 9th P3 needing a Par to win. Hit a wedge almost too well leaving a 20+ uphill putt wih a big break, having already missed two, left myself a 3 footer.

      And holed it!
