Re: Mickelson fails in rankings bid
I think most professional players are more concerned about how well they are playing "right now" as opposed to how they played 6, 12, or 18 months ago. Woods has not played #1 golf in quite some time now. The two top 10s in the previous two majors has helped, but still, he did not play his normal #1 golf at those tournaments. That, and the fact that the rest of the players have not played well enough to take over the #1 spot for the past 9 months says a lot about his competition. Since January the best player in the world has been Els, followed by Westwood, and Mickleson. Woods on the other hand would be hard pressed to be in the top 50-60, maybe even top 70 since January. The current formula for world golf rankings needs some work to be considered more current. GJS
