I find something that costs me alot of shots is thinking about other people on course. Like i sometimes will stand at address thinking "whats this guy going to think of me" or think of my swing, or if im too slow or etc. Jus specialy recognised this yesterday when it was a verrrry slow day and i seen people hands on hips staring at us like we were slowing people up ( i know they werent thinking that cuz i talked to them, but thats what i felt). But every shot they were waitin so i felt their eyes.

I am kinda of like this generaly in life but not too much. On the golf course seems to be worse and id like to ask anyone if they have advice..? My friend says wen he plays golf he doesnt even see me never mind the people on other holes. In a world of his own. I wana get that feeling! Any help apreciated guys!

It is imperative that you embrace those moments when others are watching you. Think of it as a challenge to yourself or imagine those few as a HUGE gallery and make it one that they will envy. I used to have that problem, but now take it as an opportunity. Of course if you are new like me, there will be times when the shot may make you look silly. Hey, its golf. I recently played with some guys who I hadn't played with in a long time and I was eager to show-off my improvements. I duffed the first couple of holes before settling down and just played golf.

      Hi Mark,

As you will be aware this is something I have worked on a lot last year, the answer is "Pre-Shot Routine".

As you walk to your ball you can talk, look around, do whatever you like but imagine there is a line across the fairway just before your ball.

Take you practice swings before the line, look at the guys behind, but when you cross that line.................

This is your zone, once you cross that line get into your swing mode with all your usual quirks during set up and play your shot to a photo finish.

You can practice this at the range, with all the milling around and chatter then step onto the mat and get into your swing zone.

      Good Luck

      Ian.
