    Re: Blow Out Holes......

More blow out holes again this week......

Again frustration got the better of me and again, I feel I have left a number of shots "out there"...

On Saturday I finished with 93/17/76 (43/50) with 30 putts (including 2 3 putts). I putted well enough I think, the 2 3 putts were both where I had left myself longish downhill putts to the hole and caught them too well, both running by some 8-10 feet and then leaving the return putt short in the heart.

Front 9 was 43 with 2 Double Bogies against 2 pars and a Birdie. Both doubles came from poor tee shots.

The 50 on the back 9 was just plain ugly. 4 double bogies and a triple against just the one solitary Par.

All that remains is to take the positives from being just 6 over the card for 11 of the 18 holes. Have decided I am not going to spend very much time poring over the stats this round. Suffice to say I got angry about the 12th and didn't (or couldn't or wouldn't) pull my head in until the last tee, which resulted in my parring the last hole. Poor tee shot notwithstanding.

I hope to take a positive outlook with me next week.

    Cheers

      Re: Blow Out Holes......

      hi scragger
i use to have one hole at my course i would keep getting 6s and 7s at and this old guy i was playing with one day said to play it backwords, what club would i like to play into the green most, then what clubs would i have to hit to get to that point, when i thought about it i was playing it as a par 4 but i had a shot on that hole and i could play 3 to get to the green, after that i found it was easy to play it as a par 5, i use 5 iron then a 6 iron then a 9 iron, before it was a driver and i would always end up in the deep rough.
use the handicap shots on the hard holes and try and play the hole backwords. hope this may help you as it did help me.

        Re: Blow Out Holes......

Thanks for the positive feed back Bill...

Yes, i know you are right and I have taken the play backwards thoughts with me to the course more than once, only to leave them in the proshop each time...

This week I plan on leaving the woods at home and going with nothing more than 3 iron all day. I hit my irons consistently well enough. I just have to find it within myself to stay on top of whatever negative influences come into my mind during my round.

        Watch this space....

        Cheers

          Scragger,

If using an iron off the tee - why not? You don't have to draw pictures on the card.

Keep to your game plan this weekend. Between shots think of the blues being flogged by the tiges?
