  • Anyone use a practice net at home?

I'm in the market for a net for the back yard, but I need some suggestions of ones to look at. I'm looking for personal experience with particular nets, not "I heard this one was good".

I'd like something that goes up/tears down relatively quickly (nothing permanent or takes an hour to assemble). Durability and stability are also issues. I sure don't want something that falls over on every other shot.

    Thanks.

I don't have a suggestion for the right kind of net but I will relate my experience to you.

I thought it would be a great idea myself. I bought a net (approx. price= $50). It was not too hard to put up or take down but my problem with it was this. You would be surprised how often you can miss the whole net!! I don't care how big it is. It didn't take long to figure out that I was too worried I was going to break one of my neighbors windows or worse.

I sold it before it cost me mega $$$$$$$$$

Same here. I skied a driver and I thought I had a car when what I actually hit was the shed a couple of yards away. Believe me, it is hard to believe that you can miss the net when it's like 5 feet away. Plus, youight think you are hitting itgood but you might actually be getting a slice or hook. My recommendation is to go to a driving range and hit there. But use the real grass not the mats because on mats, you can get away with a fat shot or a thin shot but not on the grass.

I got one of these nets for my birthday, but Im scared to use it in my garden, cause I can quite easily sky a driver shot.

Maybe I will compromise and use it with practise balls instead.

I had a practice net, it was a horrible idea. Like one previous poster said you can't really tell how your hitting the ball and that isn't really practice now is it. I've had better luck and better practice by hitting wiffle balls in the back yard, they don't break anything and you can tell how you are hitting the ball.

Well, I ended up getting an Izzo Cage Mouth net and a range mat from www.sportnetting.com. It has worked out great. As far as being able to tell where the shots are going, you are correct. However, I can at least tell if I am getting good contact or not. I can tell if I'm blading, chunking, toeing, shanking, etc. I've been to the range enough that I know if I hit a shot cleanly, where it's going to go. It's the consistent contact that I have to work on and this has been the perfect tool to do that.

Oh my! Unless I can spend serious dollar on one of those big strong nets I'm not going there again!

Got a decent size net once for my garden but even after a fair bit of use was I was still a bit tentative about miss-hitting one and smashing up something or someone.

One day I got a bit over confident and decided to hit a driver at it.................... I got hold of the very first one so well it smoked a hole through the net and busted a fence panel next door.

The net went in the bin after that.

I've hit repeated driver and long iron shots into it with no consequence. I've also shanked a few and the net caught everything. If you ever consider a net again, look at the Izzo Cage Mouth.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.

I've got a golf net, and started off using the practice balls, then eventually real balls, until the other day, when I hit a nice 8 iron, and even as close as I was to the net, the golf ball flew over then net and thankfully into some trees and not the neighbours windows, nor the cars & busses that run by the main road next to me.

I'll be using practice balls from now on!!!!

Dont think i could take the pressure of using a net in the back garden for fears of doing some real damage

I have had the same issues with nets that others have had, but I found the Haney net to be big enough and durable enough. I still will not use a driver though
