Re: Tour Tempo
hi
i have the book and CD over a year, it does work but you have to work at it to find what tempo fits your swing and not change your swing to fit the tempo. i swing at 28 so i tend to swing slower than most pros but its the speed that fits my swing, i did put the clicks from the Cd onto MP3 player as its smaller than clipping a CD player to your belt and i set the MP3 for loop so it keeps playing it over and over. works great.
worth giving it a try.

Re: Tour Tempo
No. I do remember a swing tempo comment from Jack Nicklaus who referred to the ideal golf swing tempo as the same as the waltz tempo. Being a ballroom dancer during the off season, it was very relevant to me. If you're at all serious about making your golf swing tempo consistent and repeatable, I would suggest a few ballroom dance lessons. It works, and gives you a reference that never fails....once you learn the waltz tempo.
Just like the waltz tempo...it is variable depending upon your natural swing speed.Last edited by dagosa; 03-11-2009, 01:27 AM.

Re: Tour Tempo
hi Dagosa
i think it was Sam Snead that use to think of a waltz and use to hum it in his head before setting up to get him in the right frame of mind.
if you can swing at the same tempo time after time then you should be more consistent in distance control.

The neat thing about the waltz tempo is that it's variable, like individual swing speeds and can be customized. Many of the golfers in our dance community use it at least in part.
Actually dancing the waltz is a full body movement that makes it more "relevant" to the golf swing and with a little practice is easily recalled.
I have even more respect for Sam now (if that were possible).

Re: Tour Tempo
hi Dagosa
it seems Sam was quite a dancer in his day and had a good ear for timing and could tell you how many Beets Per Minuet just by listening to the tempo of the music.
I'm sure that help in him having such a smooth swing.
if you look at players and watch them walk, some stride out and most have fast swings like Tiger. other seem to walk slower like say big Phil and they have a slower looking swing. big Ernie walks slow and seems to swing slow too as does Monty.
cheers

If more amateurs danced and worked out on core muscles with hip exercises, BAPs boards and balance boards, their golf club head would "magically" arrive at the hitting area with more velocity and square, with less effort than they ever thought possible. I think good balance and core strength is important for good tempo.
But for many it's just, let's buy a new driver or training aid instead of and not in addition to the basics.

Re: Tour Tempo
hi Dagosa
i agree having stronger hips and leg but also having flexibility as you would as a dancer would help your golf swing.
i always remember Fred Astaire in one of his films dancing then hit about 10 golf balls of tees all in a line one after the other! hit then swing back half a step to the ball and swing through then swing back and step and swing again, no lining up and you could see the balls flying down the fairway really a great bit of film if someone has it or it on the net please let me know. i believe he was also a good golfer and his timing was the best.

Re: Tour Tempo
I also believe we all have a natural tempo that reflects our personality and it is difficult to change it. We should identify our tempo and work at swinging the club to suit.
I also think that we need to understand the speed we can comfortably control the clubface at and swing at that speed for the best results.
