  • Height at address?

Does your height at address change with the different clubs?

I mean to say are you more upright using a driver compared to a 9 iron?

They're different swing planes and one swing, right?

Either you have to stand more upright or bend over more for your ball position to stay constant (ie the same distance from you), OR, to maintain the same address position the ball will have to move closer and farther from you.

This is for a conventional set of clubs.

For a True Length Technology build, address position and the distance from you to the ball stays the same for all full swing clubs.

Too upright at address promotes a flatter swing doesn't it, which can cause my hands getting stuck behind me?

Yes it does promote a flatter swing plane, your spine angle will set that. The problem with a flat swing plane is poor ball contact as you will not be able to compress the ball and hit it on the sweet spot. Your hands will never get stuck behind you, it will be your trailing elbow and that will be related to the position of your trail hip in the downswing.

          hi Mont
it depends on if you have a one or two plane swing, if you have a two plane swing you stand more upright, with a one plane swing you bend over more. so it really depends on what swing type you are. if your a two plane swinger then your arms swing above your shoulders so don't swing flatter. in a one plane you bend over more and swing on a flatter plane than you would if swing one a two plane swing.

I find that I strike the ball better if I take the club more straight back then
around my body. Does this sound familiar?

              hi Mont
when you swing back look in the mirror and see if your arms are above your shoulders or more in line with your shoulders, if above then you will be a two plane swinger and taking the club back they way you does seem to work with that swing, with a one plane swinger he takes the club around him more as he keeps his arms more in line with his shoulder and it more a one piece swing, more turn and every turns together, more movement with arms and legs in a two plane swing.
              cheers
