After struggling for ages with my shoulder alinement i have found a good method to help me check were my shoulders are pointing. I set up to the ball then place the club across my shoulders to check were they are pointed i then hit the shot im just wondering is it legal to check your shoulder position with the club before you hit your shot cause i dont want to do this in a competition and get penalised

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

You can even lay a club down at your feet for alignment. However, you must toss it aside (ie no longer use it as an alignment aid) before you make your stroke.
