  • over the top drills

i have a nasty over the top thing going on....i know it is caused from going too inside and the body adjusting itself to hit the ball.....i just want to know are there some type of drills or swing thoughts to get rid of this thing

Try half swings with your feet together...

Try the "Pump it Drill" The last video on the attached URL explains.

Doesn't get much simplier than that drill. Its all about keeping your arms and hands a bit passive at the top of the swing. That allows them to drop into the "slot" and attack the ball from the inside.

Very often, casting the club over the top comes from being too much inside too early in the backswing.

Try to focus on pulling your club back in a straight line with your arms and avoid your wrists collapsing back. A wider backswing ON the swingplane will leave you a lot more room to get back to the ball from the inside.

i agree with what all of you are saying....i checked out the one website and done a little research on the side and i have an idea of what to do now.......tell me this

when i do come straight back where the clubhead and hands are together at about nine o clock ...my left arm feels to disconnect from the chest a tad bit but reconnect on the way down....what i am feeling is my right shoulder slightly dropping down i guess what would be on the inside....it seems to just rotate around the spine angle after dropping into the slot....

so it feels like the first move is drop down, not to be mistaken with a dip and turn the rest of the way around.......

can this OTT be caused also from a poor weight shift in the backswing?

i have defenitely tried the pump drill and feet together probably just not long enough to embed the body motion.....i think i will commit to these and see how things work out
